Summary
One of 15 microfilm reels filmed for the Manchester City Library in 2015, Roll 6 includes typed and handwritten materials (some from published sources), including copies of newsclippings and drawings from published sources. Much of the material is in draft form; there are also scraps of paper with notes. Essays on weaving include "Hand-weaving in New Hampshire" by Barbara E. Dickey (13 p.), and "Textiles" by Dorothy Van Houten (23 p.). The section on New Hampshire woemn includes Ocean-born Mary [Mary Wilson Wallace], Hannah Dustin, Sarah Gerrish, Rebecca Gibbons, and Deborah Vickers Stalbird. "Coastal waterways" is an essay by Luna C. Osburn, 1941 (63 p.). The section on Hats includes an excerpt from the book "A century of hats and the hats of the century" about the Mallory Hat Company of Danbury, CT., by Edward Mott Woolley. The section also contains several essays by Irene Bourdon, including "A hat is what you make it" (1940, 8 p.) ; "From the Heim Hat SHop to the Manchester Hat Works" (1939, 7 p.), and "Hat making an art" (n.d., 10 p.)
