- Summary
- One of 15 microfilm reels filmed for the Manchester City Library in 2015, Roll 14 includes typed and handwritten materials (some from published sources), including copies of newsclippings and drawings from published sources. Much of the material is in draft form; there are also scraps of paper with notes. This reel includes some of the same material on the iron ore industry in New Hampshire found in Roll 13. The section titled Jewelry also includes a section on Knitting. There are drafts and various editions of several chapters intended for inclusion in guidebooks about New England, New Hampshire, or Manchester. There is a note accompanying the Joseph Kidder manuscript : The complete set of manuscript books consists of 15 volumes of journals, Aug. 23, 1838 to Aug, 28, 1845, and 51 volumes of diaries 1851-1902. Some of the diaries (16 volumes) seem to be missing from the set." Some of the Manchester directories in the Statistics sections are also included in earlier reels. Lucien Jutras compiled six detailed tours of Manchester, apparently intended for the Manchester City Guide. Several of the short essays in the wood carving section are written by M.C. Burpee, and there are notes from interviews with two wood carvers conducted by Florence Crosby: Clinton Cheney of Manchester, and Edgar Keen of Warner
